Inhaltsangabe:	Muriel Heslop (Toni Collette) kommt aus einem kleinen australischen Nest und träumt zu ABBA-Songs stets von ihrer eigenen traumhaften Hochzeit. Ihr Problem ist, daß sie noch nie eine Verabredung hatte, denn Muriel ist recht proper und deswegen nicht begehrt. Freundinnen hat sie auch nicht viele, denn sie fällt den hirnlosen Schicki-Micki-Tussen mit ihrer anhänglichen Art auf die Nerven. Auch daheim ist nicht alles beim Besten, denn ihr Vater konzentriert sich nur auf seine Lokalpolitikerkarriere und ihre Familie verkommt. Bevor ihre Träume sich in Luft auflösen, stiehlt sie schließlich Geld ihres Vaters, fährt in einen exklusiven Urlaub, findet eine ebenso seltsame Freundin und zieht schließlich unter falschem Namen in eine andere Stadt, wo sie ihre Träume weiterlebt. Sie ahnt nicht, was ihre Handlungen auslösen...
